In the midst of all of the purposeful misdirection the media is feeding you, we are experiencing a mass layoff in the online sexwork industry.
AVNStars, an adult social / subscription site, has just disclosed that they will be demonetizing due to banking discrimination as of January 1, 2022.
If you’ve been keeping up, then you know this was kind of inevitable. But, if you’ve not, I’m sure you at least heard of Traffickinghub or the social backlash that swept the media in October, 2021 as OnlyFans announced they would no longer host “sexually explicit” content. The pressure to make the site SFW was largely due to the fact that both Visa & MasterCard were flagging OnlyFans as a high risk credit processor, always by reason of chargeback but recently because OnlyFans was experiencing a massive number of unverified users posting explicit content, which is not compliant with MasterCards April, 2021 TOS update in attempt to combat sex trafficking.
Besides the fact that so many erotic laborers have been living in fear of their incomes disappearing since SESTA / FOSTA, what we are experiencing is a targeted violence by means of demonetization that is backed by corrupt religious extremism.
Christian Fundamentalists, such as Exodus Cry, are advocating for the abolition of the legal commercial sex industry while pushing a narrative that will tug at your emotions — sex trafficking. Now, of course, if you have any decency, you are in favor of survivors getting the resources and help that they need and you do not condone nefarious sexual acts done unto children or non-consenting adults. However, Exodus Cry makes no distinction between sex trafficking and sex work done by choice — they claim that everyone involved in the adult industry, consensual or not, is a victim.
These activist organizations have cracked down on sites like Backpage, Craigslist, Pornhub, OnlyFans, etc. for what seems like a great cause on the surface of sensationalist journalism. But, without actual care for the livelihoods at stake, leads to last minute press releases of site-wide layoffs and in turn, unsafe working conditions for many as we continuously witness adult sites being pressured to shutdown, restrict and demonetize.
Right now we are experiencing targeted violence in the adult industry, but if you look closely, they’re coming after much more than that .
This is not about keeping people safe, this is about control and the regulation of your sexuality— and what a coincidence as Roe vs. Wade goes before the Supreme Court.
